URGENT RESCUE IN MURCIA!!!

A ples from Amigo Galgos.
Enviado: 23/04/2008 11:57

URGENT!!!

This is Tigra, a brindle Galga and Golfo a male black Galgo who are living rough, on the streets of an industrial estate in Murcia. They are both young, but we cant tell their age since we can barely touch them, something understandable, when you think what could have happened to them in the past! They look no more than 2 years of age. Soon the time will come by again when hunting starts, PLEASE help us catch them and home them they are both sweet and docile, and the risks are high that the female could become pregnant, and they could be caught by galgueros for hunting or unscrupulous breeding. PLEASE if you can help contact AMIGO GALGOS on above contact.

NATA.. te necesita.. NATA needs you!

Introducing NATA!

So here we have another case of a beautiful galga, just dumped like rubbish for her to defend for herself. The mentality seems to be "galgos can hunt, they can look for food". It is in my opinion, if out of a litter of say 10 pups, only one is ok for hunting it shows they are really not quite as natural at hunting as what people think, they are "trained" to hunt. Hence why many pups find themselves starved, thrown down wells, as young as 2 and 3 months this decision has been made, fate written on a tree somewhere to hang from.

So here enters NATA... another lame galgo who is saved by the people I name the "guardian angels" of the galgos. Here is Natas story, and she is stunning!!!

Nata arrived at the shelter El Arca de Monzòn (Huesca) - noone knows how, but she was begging around the exterior of the refuge. Perhaps luck brought her that far! Its quite possible she was brought there by the same gypsies who had her because she was no good at running, for she has a wound in her front paw.

The next day she was sent to Barcelona, all analysis negative. With her playful and happy character,we guess she has not suffered any type of abuse that has lasted in her, or that could have stayed with her and made her a shy creature. Quite on the contrary, she is greatful for all signs of affection. She will ask for attention, and greet everyone with her tail wagging, so sweetly that everyone just has to respond with a stroke and a smile. She loves people, and all whom know her be it people or dogs - and neither does she have any issues with male or female dogs, ... she also knows she is a girlie who is "stunning in her looks" - and she uses this to her advantage, "well which girl wouldn't?" She uses it to take a ball, achieve a treat, and at the moment anything she likes. She is also good with cats.

She is curious, perhaps too much so, and everything surprises her, but she is not scared. The other day she misunderstood the noise of a car, and jumped up on top of it, thinking it was her friends, it costs us somewhat though and some time, 4 stitches in the back paw, 3 in her knee, and 5 days of complete rest. We hope this serves as an experiance (to all) - but Nata has only just started to live, and nothings going to stop her!

If you would like to adopta Nata, (and who wouldnt?) please contact http://www.degalgos.org/ or myself comdelrio@hotmail.com and I will send you the contacts needed.

Named Noche - The darkest of lives, but the night she was saved!

So... the sadness continues for the Spanish Galgos. It's taken me 24 hours to write this and send out a plea for help for either an adoption or any help possible. I was so appalled and sad that having written about the case of Agua, another that affected me, i felt "all out of words" to express the disgust I have for people - monstors who inflict evil on galgos. You know that it NEVER ceases to amaze me the endurance a galgo has to suffer and continue with their days, its nothing a human could under take without giving in and complaining, or giving up totally. All galgos when rescued, show greatfulness as only a galgo knows how to do. But then I guess you would have to suffer what they do, to understand that. Here, is Noches story.

Noche.

A night where the darkness of being a galgo, turned to light for a galgo who has suffered immensly.

This is the night where Noches life turns around and finds hands that cure her wounded body.

Noche was found by Loli's daughter. Loli is a colleague of http://www.degalgos.org/ and her daughter was out, she saw this galgo walking into a local park, so she followed her, only to see the gardeners still at work and shooing the galgo away, anything they could to be rid of what they consider vermin and ugly in this country. She stood frozen to the spot at their threats, as miracles would have it this is where Loli's Daughter scoops Noche and puts her into her car.

Noche has suffered as the wounds on her skin are shocking. She has had terrible scabies, and has raw skin. The vet has also said it is highly probable she has been attacked by rats!!

Where was she for that to have happened to her. Her flesh shows, her skin is shocking and her fur is terrible. She is only young about a year - the vet says it wouldnt be strange to think that the "galguero" who owned her threw her away because of the skin problem. How long have you Noche been wandering the street? Trying to survive, where were you dumped to have been attacked by rats? Poor Poor noche.

She looks old, but she is young as her teeth are transparent, on her paw her bones show. She has bite marks all over her body, from the attack. In Auroras words, " I dont know why I called her Noche, but its the name that came to me when I thought of her rescue, even though its not really a dogs name!" Noche is in isolation until her tests can be done - which the vet wants her to rest and recouperate some before doing her analysis. She is at the moment in loli's house in foster care but needs to be in another location because she has her daughter whom is terribly allergic.

What Noche needs, is a family, an adoption, the promise of life - that day follows night and every day and night will be filled with love.

I was so appalled by this story, it took me some time to write it, I just find it so sorrowful that a galgo can reach the state where they can be attacked by rats. Not a person could withold the pain a galgo can and still have the will to wander the streets looking for that scrap of food after having a life of abuse, from some galguero who didnt want her anyway.

Galgos are the sweetest and raising a family around a galgo is very rewarding. The love they give you, can only come from a galgo, its something that only a galgo can know, and can show you in kind, their pure love for you. If you are thinking of adopting a dog, PLEASE think of the galgo, they need help, all of them. Noche is looking for her forever home, are you her family? She is waiting for you!

THE INVISIBLE GALGO!

The Invisible Galgo!

It never ceases to amaze me the strength the galgos have to endure such suffering and continue living the life which they have succumbed to. Not a single person could hold the pain a galgo feels and continue without comaplaining. WHY are they ignored, such a serene and gentle creature, mans best friend let down by man!

Introducing JAN. (& the photos of what was removed from him!)

Recently http://www.degalgo.org/ took a call from a group of builders stating there was a dog who needed rescuing from their building site. Trembling at the thought of yet another rescue and what that can mean to an assoc. the rescuer went out to have a look. Astounded by what she saw, the builders had been leaving food, but not for one dog, but a pack some with babies, some about to have babies, and then out from the back of the crowd slithers a skeletal galgo. As days passed trying to rescue the dogs, Loli saw that the Galgo was not even accepted by the other abandoned dogs, he ate their scraps. Part of the pack, but always at a distance, not invited to eat with them, only hat they left.

On completion of removing the remainding dogs, there was left the galgo... Loli asked the builders why they had not placed food for him while waiting rescue, they replied "its a galgo, he can find his own way in life". Clear once again the way people see the galgo, as if they see them as vermin or that somehow they are capable of handling street life, Loli began the long process of gaining his trust. Something thats time consuming, most galgos are too afraid to come close. ventually she rescued him, only to find the outstanding damage someone something had done. Beaten, car accident? who knows what she as told was that he had been on the streets around 2 years. Imagine 2 very long years of street life for a skinny galgo. He had a nail in his head, he had wounds open all over his body, he had a wire wrapped round his paw wehich had been there so long raw flesh had started to grow over the top. His agony must have been immense. He is around 8 years of age has no teeth and very very quiet. He after an xray has also a broken rib. Poor Jan- what has happened to you Jan, if only we knew?

Jan has been operated on, and things are brighter for him however extremely costly for the assoc who are caring for him.

Jan is looking for a forever home when he is a bit better, he is under the care of the neurologist and has had specialist vet care also, this adding to an extremely expensive case. If you can help http://www.degalgos.org/ in anyway, or perhaps adopt JAN and offer him the stillness and quietness of love, a garden perhaps and few stairs. If you are that special person who has had your heart taken by JAN please dont hesitate to contact http://www.degalgos.org/ or myself comdelrio@hotmail.com

Galgos slither through the streets at night, never wanting to be seen, never coming close to the human all having suffered some kind of trauma.. they are the invisible breed which people choose to ignore. one day they will rise back up in society and become the household pet they so deserve to be!

Are you his guardian angel? He's waiting for you!
If you would like to help economically with the costs of JAN degalgos assoc. bank details are below. A gift which helps the assoc. more than you can imagine!

Bebe.. in France with her new Mama ...

Remember the story of Bebe? A podenca found in distress in a story I wrote about a few links ago, well Bebe found her new Mama in France, with Beryl from http://www.galgonews.com/ Bebe needed surgery which her new Mama has attended to and here are the pictures to show her slow but steady progression. I just know that in the hands of her new Mama she will develop and grow and her healing will soon pass in the love and care that she will now have, in her forever home.

My personal thanks go to Beryl for loving Bebe and taking her in, a special girl with a Special Mama. keep us all posted on her Progress, we'll be waiting for pics of her running around with her brothers and sisters (adopted) in no time! thanks for caring and loving her Beryl, she couldnt have found a better family!!!!
There is also a pic of Bebe with Pruna a 3 legged Podenca who acompanied Bebe to a new home in France. Good luck little girls, you deserve true happiness!

These are Beryls own words on her update!

Bonjour

I took Bebe to the vet yesterday afternoon and she has had the operation on her dislocated hip.

Because the injury was done at the beginning of February, and she was unable to have any treatment till now, her hip could not be put back in place. The vet has operated on the joint, and I collected the little dog this morning.

You can see a picture of the operation site.

She is on anti-inflammatory medication for 10 days, and also antibiotics to prevent the risk of infection. She has to just be taken out to the toilet, and not walked or allowed to jump for 4-6 weeks. She has to return to the vet to have her stitches removed in 10 days' time.

She is feeling very sorry for herself, and is curled up in a basket in front of the fire. But she still have a lovely wag in her tail when she gets up!

She is adorable!

Agua needs a dry safe home...

Introducing AGUA.

Agua is a Galguita in adoption with degalgos. Found wallowing in a canal of water trying the best she could to raise her puppies, watcghing while 2 were drowning, helpless herself to do more than what she could by just keeping herself alive so they had her by their side. Shame on the "galguero" who dumped Agua, have they no idea of the trauma they cause, the pain and misery after the galgo has given their all, everything they could to be a good galgo, to be loyal to their torturer .. to be left stranded, an attempt to drown mans best friend. Just another way a galguero uses to get rid of their galgo.

Agua is a galga who is recouperating from her trauma. She is quiet and calm, and needs a family. She is learning while in foster care what love really is, what warmth is, a bowl of food, a full stomach and no itchy skin from fleas or ticks. She walks well on the lead and is very quiet.

Agua, named for where she was found, needs love, needs a forever home and security she will never ever return to the hands of a hunter again.

If you can help Agua or would like more information please contact Aurora at http://www.degalgos.org/ or myself comdelrio@hotmail.com and i will pass you the information. She is waiting for you!

As Simple as ABC, please click the link and sign!

http://getactive.peta.org/campaign/end_animal_homelessness

I think this is one of the most appropriate peticions around. ABC stands for ANIMAL BIRTH CONTROL. Something which is lacking in many a country but never have I seen more ignorance about sterilising an animal in any other country than Spain. There seems to be this thought process that its more natural, as if by giving a male dog the "snip" it would mean the same as its owner. Animals DO NOT THINK LIKE PEOPLE.

Castration is one of the kindest things you can do for your pet, the MOST responsible way to control birth control. People take birth control, so why would it be so odd that we let our animals do the same? Its healthier, cleaner and the animal lives a longer life... so why wouldnt you do it? I meet many a person who has not got their dog castrated, infact one in particular whose alsation is male and is very over powering, he launches himself at Ambo who only wants to play, the other day I saw him pick a stick up to scare Ambo away, what right would he have to do that to my dog, none whatsoever, and yet by castrating his dog, could well ease the aggression he is feeling. To me its simple, Men seem to take it harder than women the idea of castrating, but the question I ask, is always the same, as a man how would you feel if you could never ever have relations with your partner? frustrated, so why let your dog feel like that when its unessassary, unless you are irresponsible and allow your dog to find a mate in which that leaves the owner of the female stuck with puppies. Its simple if you love your dog or cat, ABC!

ABC significa ANIMAL BIRTH CONTROL.

Si quieres a tu perro o perra, esterilizar.

A powerful link which deserves its own dedication!

http://helpbadajoz.wordpress.com/

I received this link, and while I am familiar with all these cases I felt that the link is a powerful watch. For those who are not yet familiar with the torture the Galgos suffer, its a hard thing to watch. PLEASE just hang in there and grit your teeth as you watch the video at the bottom of the page, its only when you see the "reality" of what happens that you can help, and you can.
Its time Spain woke up to the torture its animals are suffering, enduring and all at the hands of man. "Mans best friend, let down by man!" Ill let you judge for yourselves, to me its soul destroying but I know I will never ever stop looking for publicity to tell the world what exactly happens, hidden in the dark world of a galgos life. One day we'll reach them all, but only in large numbers, so please, join us in campaigning against hunting with galgos and endless cruelty with no punishment, for the most wonderful serene dogs God created!

A Podenca who survives hell... and is looking for heaven!

'ESTA PERRITA ES SUERTE. ES UNA PODENCA DE UNOS DOS AÑOS DE EDAD QUE HA VIVIDO UN AUTENTICO INFIERNO. UN SER INHUMANO LA HA TENIDO DURANTE MUCHOS MESES VIVIENDO EN UNA AGONÍA DIARIA. ESTA PERSONA ESTÁ TRASTORNADA Y SE DEDICA A COGER PERROS ABANDONADOS PARA HACERLES SUFRIR HASTA QUE LOS MATA. PERO SUERTE HA SIDO RESCATADA ANTES DE QUE SU FINAL FUERA LA MUERTE. DURANTE ESTE TIEMPO HA ESTADO SIN APENAS COMER, CUANDO LA RESCATARON ESTABA EN LOS HUESOS Y CON UNA DESNUTRICION TREMENDA. ADEMÁS, TENÍA POR TODO EL CUERPOO QUEMADURAS DE CIGARRILLO. DEL ESTRÉS TAN GRANDE QUE TENIA ELLA MISMA SE ESTABA ARRANCANDO EL PELO, Y TENIA GRAN PARTE DEL CUERPO SIN PELO. CUANDO LA RESCATARON, SUERTE ESTUVO ARRINCONADA SIN MOVERSE DURANTE MAS DE UNA SEMANA, TEMBLANDO SIN PARAR. TENIA EL COLLAR INCRUSTADO EN EL CUELLO, TANTO QUE AL QUITARSELO SE LE DESPELLEJÓ UN POCO LA PIEL, YA QUE ESTABA TOTALMENTE PEGADO A ELLA, COMO SI LA HUBIESEN QUERIDO AHORCAR. NO CONTENTO CON ESO, ESTE MOUNSTRUO SE DIVERTÍA AHOGÁNDOLA, LE METÍA LA CABEZA EN UN CUBO DE AGUA, DE ESTO SON TESTIGOS VARIOS VECINOS, QUE DICEN QUE NO ES AL PRIMER PERRO QUE LE HACE ESTO. LA POBRE SUERTE LO HA PASADO TAN MAL QUE AHORA APENAS BEBE AGUA, NO QUIERE NI ACERCARSE AL RECIPIENTE DEL AGUA. SIN EMBARGO LE ESTAN DANDO MUCHO AMOR. SUERTE YA HA ENGORDADO, Y CONFIA EN LAS PERSONAS, TANTO QUE CUANDO SU MADRE DE ACOGIDA SE VA A LA CALLE SE QUEDA EN LA PUERTA LLORANDO HASTA QUE VUELVE, SE HA CONVERTIDO EN UNA PERRA MUY CARIÑOSA Y TREMENDAMENTE AGRADECIDA. AHORA SUERTE BUSCA UN HOGAR DEFINITIVO, LA SEÑORA QUE LA HA RESCATADO TIENE 3 PERROS Y 2 GATOS, Y TIENE QUE SEGUIR RESCATANDO PERROS A ESTE MALTRATADOR, YA QUE A PESAR DE TENER MUCHAS DENUNCIAS, LOS JUECES NO HACEN NADA PARA EVITAR QUE ESTE HOMBRE SIGA COGIENDO PERROS SI QUIERES DARLE LA FELICIDAD QUE SE MERECE A SUERTE NO LO DUDES, PONTE EN CONTACTO CON EL ARCA DE NOE DE CORDOBA:elarcadenoecordoba@gmail.com MUCHAS GRACIAS."

Introducing Suerte (lucky)

suerte is a podenca. She has been living through many months of pure hell at the hands of someone who had no soul and a heart of Iron. He put her through many days of pain and agony many a beating, and tried to destroy her faith in mankind .

She is about a year and a half of age, he had her as if he was trying to hang her, her collar so tight it was embedded in her neck into her skin. Down to her bones she was starved asnd as if that was not enough he enjoyed dunking her head in a bucket of water. Her foster mom has taken her in but she needs a forever home. She has recouperated but her foster home has 3 other dogs and a cat, in order for her to continue rescuing more dogs from this monstor Suerte needs a forever home where she can be loved forever more and never feel the cruel hand of pain. Although this iron hearted monstor has been denounced many a time, there seems no way of stopping him collecting stray dogs to inflict pain onto them. PLEASE if you can offer Suerte a home, where she no longfer has to sit in the corner waiting for her next beating, contact Arca de Noa on the above email address, Suerte would appreciate it!

Luz... needs a ray of hope!

ESTA ES LUZ,SU NOMBRE DEBIDO,,,A QUE EN SU VIDA NO SOLO HAYA SUFRIMIENTO,,SI NO QUE HAYA UNA LUZ DE ESPERANZA,COMO TANTO SE LO MERECE,

This is Luz... named because in her life she not only has suffered abuse but has not had a ray or light of hope. as she si deserves.

LLEVA TRES MESES EN LA CALLE,,LA HEMOS INTENTADO COGER MUCHISIMAS VECES, PERO NO SE DEJA

she has been 3 months in the street aand we have tried many a time to rescue her, but to no avail.

ESTA TREMENDAMENTE ASUSTADA,,LE HAN MALTRATADO MUCHISIMO,,ESTA AL LADO DE UNA CARRTERA DONDE NO DEJAN DE PASAR COCHES,,ELLA NO DEJA DE CRUZARSE COMO SI SU VIDA NO LE IMPORTARA EN ABSOLUTO,

she is tremendously scared, has been very abused, and she is right by the side of a main road where noone will let her pass in safety. she wont stop crossing the road as if her own life has no importance to her.

AYER LE DEJE COMIDA,,YA APENAS COME,,DE ECHO NI SE ACERCO A LA COMIDA, AHORA VOY A INTENTAR COGERLA CON UNA DE UNA DE LAS FORMAS NUEVAS QUE ME HAN COMENTADO,

yesterday i left her food, but she didnt touch it, she never even went near it. now we are going to try to catch her with another method which we have been advised on. but when we catch her she needs somewhere to go. a home.

PERO ESO SI,CUANDO LA COJA NECESITA UN HOGAR, ALGUIEN PUEDE OFRECERLE UN HOGAR A LUZ,NECESITA UN RAYO DE ESPERANZA,

if anyone can help offer her a home she needs a ray of hope... contact: ... below

Introducing Holly

Holly is a little dog who has been rescued by an animal lover! She was found on the side of the road unable to move, frail and weak. She was taken to the vet and was found to have a broken leg, she is a small pointer dog and very sweet. Fully recovered albeit she has a limp when she walks. She is good with cats, dogs and children. She understands the command NO and is looking for her forever home. If you can offer Holly a home where she can feel warmth and love, forever, please email me at comdelrio@hotmail.com and I will forward you the contact of her foster family. Heres hoping Holly finds true love! My thanks go to her rescuers for helping take just one more dog of the streets and hoping to offer her love.
